Strengthening Early Years to Kindergarten Transitions (SEY2KT)

What is SEY2KT?

This is an initiative that focuses on collaboration and strengthening of relationships across the education and early years sectors. As Child Care becomes a critical component of Education, this work is now more important than ever.

As Margaret Wheatley writes, “Relationships are all there is. Everything in the Universe exists because it is in relationship to everything else. Nothing exists in isolation. We humans want to be together. Truly connecting with another human being gives us joy. We have to slow down. Nothing will change for the better until we do. We need time to think, to learn together to know each other. The cure for despair is not hope. It’s discovering what we want to do about something we care about.”

This is the essence of SEY2KT. Building the capacity of each person to lead, to work in deep relationship with others and to think and work in complexity to change systems so that they support all children and families.

Below you will find links to all of the School Districts participating in SEY2KT and training in CSL in 2020-21 and 2021-22. And you will also find links to all of the CSL training sessions that have been delivered since 2020.

SEY2KT Resources from Annual Learning Sessions

For the last three years, all SEY2KT sites have engaged in structured CSL learning to support their intersectoral work. The intention has been to build leadership capacity and systemic approaches across the initiative. The links in this section connect to pages that hold the powerpoint slides from the training sessions and also slides from SEY2KT sites as they have presented their work.

 Research

Through the life of SEY2KT, Dr. Sharon Jeroski has guided the on-going evaluation of the projects. The reports that Dr. Jeroski has prepared each year provide important insight into the progress of SEY2KT work, its impact and some of our learning about the factors that are heightening effectiveness.
